I wanted to read this when I had enough time to savor it. I'm so glad I did. This is a beautiful essay. I also used to dislike cats until the cat at my ex's place sat on my lap, looked at me intensely, and lullabied me with her purr. I miss Luna and her manipulative indifference (that was the cat's name, not my ex).
